India will celebrate its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950. On this historic day, the Constituent Assembly formally enforced the Constitution, replacing the Government of India Act, 1935, and laying the foundation of India as a sovereign republic. Since then, Republic Day has been observed annually as one of the country's most important national events.
26 January, Republic Day 2026 Parade Timings and Schedule
The Republic Day 2026 ceremonies will commence at 9:30 AM with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to the nation's fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. The homage will be followed by a formal salute by an Inter-Services Guard and the observance of a two-minute silence in remembrance of the martyrs.

The main Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath) will commence at 10:30 AM and will run for approximately 90 minutes.

Following PM Modi's tribute, President Droupadi Murmu will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during the grand march past. The parade will showcase marching contingents from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, along with Paramilitary Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS).
After the rendition of the National Anthem and before the President's departure, balloons will be released from designated locations along Kartavya Path.

The Chief Guests for Republic Day 2026 will be António Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
Entry Requirements To Attend Republic Day 2026 Event At Kartavya Path:
- Carry a valid government-issued photo ID
- Carry a physical or digital Parade Ticket/Pass
- Only limited personal items are permitted inside the venue
- Prohibited items are clearly listed on the ticket/pass
- Entry to enclosures is on a first-come, first-served basis, and gates may close once enclosures reach capacity.

DOs for Republic Day Parade Attendees
Visitors are advised to arrive early as entry gates will open at 7:00 AM.
All attendees must carry a valid government-issued photo identity card at all times.
Visitors must strictly follow all security guidelines and protocols, including restrictions on bags and personal belongings. Attendees should be prepared for thorough security checks at entry points.
Spectators are encouraged to use public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro services, as parking facilities are not available near Kartavya Path.
Free Metro ride QR coupons provided with parade tickets should be utilised wherever applicable.
Attendees must maintain proper decorum throughout the event, stand respectfully during the National Anthem.
It is mandatory to carry a valid parade ticket, invitation or entry pass, either in physical or digital form, as specified by the issuing authority.
Visitors should remain within designated seating or standing areas.
DON'Ts for Republic Day Parade Attendees
Visitors must not bring any prohibited items inside the venue. These include coins, bags, briefcases, eatables, radios, transistors, papers, tape recorders, cameras, binoculars, digital diaries, palm-top computers, power banks, mobile chargers, headphones, iPads, laptops, computers, wireless communication gadgets, remote-controlled car lock keys, arms and ammunition, thermos flasks, water bottles, cigarettes, bidis, matchboxes, lighters, knives, laser lights, razors, scissors, screwdrivers, blades, alcohol, cans, daggers, swords, sharp-edged objects, fireworks, crackers, perfumes, inflammable items, umbrellas, sprays, replica firearms, toy guns, hand cameras, iPods, wires, and explosives in any form.
Attendees should not arrive late. Entry to enclosures will be closed once capacity is reached, and late arrivals may be denied access.
Visitors are advised not to use mobile phones during ceremonial moments, particularly during the National Anthem. Mobile phones should be kept on silent mode.
Spectators must not litter within the venue and should ensure cleanliness by using the bins provided or carrying back any waste.
Attendees should not carry political banners, posters or any promotional material, as such items are strictly prohibited within the parade area.
Visitors must not engage in disruptive behaviour or any action that disturbs the proceedings.
Attendees are strictly advised not to take unauthorised photographs or videos, as photography and videography are restricted in many parts of the venue.
