Under the new scheme, gig workers registered under the Parivar Pehchan Patra family ID and e-shram, and belonging to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh, will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 5,000. Increased Budget Allocation for Labor Sector

In line with its commitment to supporting the labor sector, the Haryana government has allocated Rs 92.83 crore for 2024-25, marking an increase of 7.05% over the revised estimates of Rs 86.71 crore in the current year. This enhanced budget allocation underscores the government's focus on improving the welfare of workers and providing them with necessary resources.

Welfare Schemes for Construction Workers

The Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has played a vital role in implementing various welfare schemes during 2023-24. With an expenditure of Rs 250 crore, the board has supported 85,338 beneficiaries through different initiatives. Recognizing the importance of education, the government has also launched a scheme to provide electric scooters for the daughters of registered construction workers. This scheme offers financial assistance of up to Rs 50,000, or the actual ex-showroom price, whichever is less, through e-RUPI. This initiative aims to empower daughters of construction workers by facilitating access to better opportunities for higher education.

The Haryana government's new scheme to provide subsidies and interest-free loans for e-scooter purchases by gig workers is a commendable step towards supporting this important segment of the workforce. By recognizing the challenges faced by gig workers and addressing their transportation needs, the government is demonstrating its commitment to improving their livelihoods and overall well-being. Additionally, the increased budget allocation for the labor sector and the welfare schemes for construction workers further highlight the government's dedication to ensuring the welfare and progress of its citizens.
