Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced an increase in the annual income limit for the creamy layer of OBCs from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh. This decision, made during the 'OBC Morcha Sarv Samaj Samrasta Sammelan' in Gurugram, aims to benefit the OBC community significantly in employment opportunities.

The announcement comes just months before the Haryana Assembly elections, expected in October. The chief minister emphasised that this move is part of a broader effort to ensure the welfare of the OBC community and provide substantial benefits to youth seeking government jobs.
Increased Reservation and Special Recruitment Drive
Alongside raising the income limit, Saini revealed that the reservation for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B posts would increase from 15% to 27%. This change aligns with the Central government's policy. Additionally, he mentioned that the backlog of vacancies for backward classes in these job categories would be addressed through a special recruitment drive.
Saini highlighted that this increased income limit would be implemented in state government jobs. He expressed pride in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to protecting OBC interests. Over the past decade, the government has consistently worked to benefit the OBC community at all levels in Haryana.
Educational and Skill Development Initiatives
The Haryana government is also supporting OBC children's education by providing scholarships ranging from ₹12,000 to ₹20,000. These scholarships aim to ensure quality education for OBC students. Additionally, there is a focus on skill development within the OBC community to enhance their employment prospects.
Saini's announcements reflect a comprehensive approach to improving opportunities and support for the OBC community in Haryana. By increasing both income limits and reservation percentages, as well as addressing educational and skill development needs, the government aims to create a more inclusive environment for OBC individuals.
This series of measures underscores the government's commitment to uplifting the OBC community and ensuring their fair representation and opportunities in various sectors. The upcoming special recruitment drive will further address employment gaps and provide more chances for qualified candidates from backward classes.
These initiatives are expected to have a lasting impact on the socio-economic status of the OBC community in Haryana, fostering greater inclusion and equality in state employment and education sectors.
