Record H1 bookings, including Q2 TCV of $ 3.3 billion (+27% YoY), improve medium-term visibility, although macro uncertainty and weak discretionary spending persist. Advanced AI revenue grew 28.4% QoQ to $219 million, with AI featuring in every large deal," analysts at Choice Institutional Equities said.

FY27 revenue guidance was revised to 2.5-4.0%, while the organic growth midpoint remains broadly unchanged after acquisitions.

"We remain positive on execution, bookings and AI monetisation, but cautious on broad-based demand recovery," their note added.

Should You Buy OR Avoid HCL Shares?

Analysts at Choice have retained their "ADD" rating on HCL with target price of Rs 1,330.

Also, analysts at Emkay Global said, "for FY27, HCLT largely retains the midpoint of its organic revenue guidance, with overall CC revenue growth of 2.5-4.0% (implying 1.5-3.5% CQGR) and Services growth of 3.0-4.0% (0.1-1.4% CQGR), with 17.5-18.5% EBITM. Guidance includes inorganic contributions of 87bps to overall revenue and 62bps to Services. The management confidence stems from strong bookings, a healthy pipeline, and sustained momentum in advanced AI revenue. We tweak our estimates by - 0.4% to 2.6%, factoring in the 2Q performance; retain ADD/TP of Rs1,250 at 16x Sep-28E EPS."

However, analysts at JM Financial believes that HCL's quarterly performance was slightly lower than expected. The analysts note added, "Forward-looking indicators: i) FY27 services revenue guidance came in at 3-4% cc including acquisitions (earlier 1.5-4.5% organic) - organic mid-point largely unchanged as per management. ii) FY27 overall guidance came in at 2.5-4% cc including acquisitions (earlier 1-4% organic) - organic mid-point largely unchanged as per management. Overall FY27 EBIT margin guidance remains unchanged at 17.5-18.5%, despite integrating acquisition impact. iii) Net new TCV for Q2 stood at $ 3.3 billion, LTM TCV grew 12% YoY - includes European Fortune Global 50 deal worth USD 1.14bn - revenues likely from Q1FY28. iv) Management commentary - demand was healthy towards the end of the quarter however it remained cautious given the fluid macro environment."

Accordingly, their note said, "Services will do better than the mid-point, as per management. Maintain our target multiple at 15x. Revise FY27-29E estimates by ~3-4% given better than expected margins. Hence, revised TP of Rs 1,160 (Rs 1,135 earlier). Valuations are at ~16x 1Y forward consensus EPS (~20% premium to TCS). Maintain REDUCE."
