The acquisition will see around 1,500 employees and 700 contractors, who possess extensive experience in engineering services for the telecom sector across various countries including Spain, Italy, India, Japan, China, the Americas, and the APAC region, transitioning to HCLTech. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing HCLTech's presence in the telecom vertical by leveraging the acquired CSS IP, solutions, and talent at leading Communications Service Providers (CSPs) in Europe, Japan, the Americas, and the APAC region. Notably, this includes relationships with 20 of the top-30 CSPs globally.

HCLTech's CEO and Managing Director, C. Vijayakumar, expressed optimism about the acquisition, stating that it would significantly augment the company's telecom practice to cater to the rapidly evolving global telecom market. He emphasized that the addition of top engineering talent and industry-leading IP from HPE's CTG group would introduce substantial capabilities and direct relationships with global CSPs.

The transaction is currently pending regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, with an expected closure timeline of six to nine months. Antonio Neri, President and Chief Executive Officer of HPE, commented on the acquisition by highlighting the value HCLTech places on CTG's business heritage, strategy, and future potential. He expressed confidence in HCLTech as a strong partner that recognizes the significant contributions of CTG to the industry.

This acquisition is not just a testament to HCLTech's growth strategy but also signals a broader trend of consolidation and strategic partnerships within the technology sector. By integrating CTG's assets and expertise into its operations, HCLTech is poised to enhance its service offerings and competitive edge in the global telecommunications market.
