In lieu of the increasing COVID-19 instances and restrictions in various parts of the country, the country's largest private sector lender, HDFC Bank, announced on Saturday that it has launched mobile automated teller machines (ATM) in 19 cities. The private sector bank stated in a release that the mobile ATMs will remove the necessity for individuals to travel out of their area for cash withdrawals in confined or sealed areas. It also said that necessary measures, such as social distancing and sanitization, are being taken to ensure safety. Customers will be able to undertake over 15 different forms of transactions using the Mobile ATM, which will be available for a limited time at each location, according to the lender, and will cover three to four stops every day.

Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hosur, Trichy, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Trivandrum, Allahabad, Salem, Dehradun, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Coimbatore are among the 19 cities where the facility has been introduced, according to the release. Customers can also use these mobile ATMs for 15 different services, including cash withdrawals, updating ATM PIN, prepaid mobile recharge, paying utility bills, and cardless cash withdrawals, and so on according to the release. HDFC Bank's group head for Liability Products, Third Party Products, and Non-Resident Business, S Sampathkumar, clarified "We hope our mobile ATM will provide a great support for people who want to avail basic financial services without having to venture far from their neighbourhood." He further added that "During this difficult time, we want to do our part to help everyone #Stay Home and #Stay Safe as we stand together to curb the spread of COVID19. This service will also be of great help to all the healthcare workers, and other essential service providers who have been working tirelessly to combat the pandemic," according to the source Hindustan Times.
