Head Of Amazon's Cloud Division In India And South Asia Resigns

India and South Asia's head of Amazon.com Inc's (AMZN.O) cloud division, Puneet Chandok, has decided to step down from his position, effective from August 31, as announced by the company on Friday.

Chandok assumed the role of leading Amazon Web Services (AWS) in June 2019. In his absence, Vaishali Kasture, who currently serves as the head of enterprise for mid-market and global businesses at AWS India and South Asia, will take on the interim leadership of the commercial business for the unit, according to the U.S. online retailer.

The announcement comes more than two weeks after Amazon's cloud computing subsidiary announced plans to invest 1.06 trillion rupees ($12.87 billion) in India by 2030, doubling down on previous investments to meet rising demand for such services in Asia's third largest economy.
