Heatwave Grips North India as Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat on IMD Alert; Bangalore To Experience Light Rain

Severe Heatwave Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe heatwave-like conditions in Delhi, parts of Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and other north Indian states in the coming days. Meanwhile, Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka are likely to experience light rainfall on Saturday, with normal temperatures this weekend.
Delhi and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) will witness severe heatwave-like conditions next week, with temperatures soaring to as high as 42 degrees Celsius. Saurashtra and Kutch, West Rajasthan and other parts of north India will witness a significant surge in temperature on Sunday.

Heatwave Alert in Delhi

The Regional Meteorological Centre, New Delhi has issued a severe heatwave alert for Delhi for Monday and Tuesday, ie 7-8 April. On these days, maximum temperature in the the national capital can go as high as 42 degree Celsius.

IMD Warns of Heatwave in Gujarat, Himachal, Rajasthan, Goa

IMD has warned of severe heatwave loke conditions in parts of West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan and Goa on Sunday, 6 April. The weather forecasting agency has issued a red alert for Saurashtra and Kutch Region for tomorrow. Most of these regions witnessed severe heatwave like conditions on Saturday as well.

"Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Rajasthan during 05th-10th; West Uttar Pradesh, south Haryana, Delhi, Punjab on 07th-08th; Himachal Pradesh during 05th-07th; Gujarat Region during 06th-09th; West Madhya Pradesh during 07th-10th, East Madhya Pradesh on 08th & 09th and Vidarbha on 09th & 10th April," stated IMD in its latest bulletin today.

Bangalore Weather Prediction

Weather in Bangalore is likely to remain normal with partly cloudy sky. The Karnataka capital may witness light rain and thunder showers on Saturday with minimum and maximum temperatures likely to remain around 34 degree Celsius and 21 degree Celsius in next 24 hours.

Apart from Bangalore, several other Karnataka districts may also experience light rainfall today and tomorrow. As per IMD update, there are chances of light to moderate rain thunderstorms at one or two places over the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Dry weather likely over Uttara Kannada district.

In North Interior Karnataka, IMD has predicted light rain along with thundershowers at one or two places over the Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts on Sunday, with the possibility of dry weather over the remaining districts. All districts in south interior Karnataka will experience dry weather except parts of Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Mysore, which may witness scanty rainfall.

IMD Weather Forecast

In contrast to prevailing heatwave-like conditions across north India, several Indian states will witness heavy rainfall on Sunday, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

There are chances of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40 - 50 kmph) along with hailstorm at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya. Isolated places of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may witness lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40 - 50 kmph).

There will be heatwave like condition in parts of Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Gujarat Region. Whereas, locals in Konkan and Goa will experience hot and humid temperatures.
