Hindustan Power has announced receiving a letter of intent to develop a 120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System in Bihar. This project, secured through tariff-based competitive bidding, will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) basis. The company, led by Ratul Puri, received this intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd.

The project involves setting up a Standalone Battery Energy Storage System across three vital grid substations in Bihar. These installations will be located in Bhagalpur, Udakishanganj, and Sitamarhi, each with a capacity of 40 MWh. The integrated power generation company aims to complete the full capacity within 18 months from the effective date of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement.
Battery Energy Storage System Project
This initiative is part of the Central government's approved 500 MWh battery energy storage system project in Bihar. It aims to ensure an uninterrupted and high-quality power supply while balancing demand and supply during peak hours. The project underscores Hindustan Power's commitment to technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, expressed dedication to supporting Bihar's clean energy goals. "This partnership reflects our commitment to technological innovation and environmental responsibility. It is a progressive step toward building a cleaner energy future, and we remain dedicated to supporting the state's clean energy ambitions," he stated.
The scheduled commissioning date for the entire capacity is set for 18 months from the effective date of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement. This timeline aligns with the company's goal to enhance energy reliability in the region.
By implementing this project, Hindustan Power aims to contribute significantly to Bihar's energy infrastructure. The focus is on providing a stable power supply and addressing peak demand challenges effectively.
