HUL Q4 FY25: Net Profit Inches Up 3.7% to Rs. 2,493 Cr, Declares Rs. 24 Dividend; Share Price Falls 4%

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), one of India's leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, released its financial results for the fourth quarter of FY25 today.

The company reported a total income of Rs. 15,513 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, a growth of 2.3% from Rs. 15,077 crore in the same quarter previous year but Down 1.3% from December Quater which stood at Rs. 15,720 cr. This represents a 5.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase, mainly due to stable demand in urban areas and strategic pricing.

HUL posted a net profit (PAT) of Rs. 2,493 crore for the quarter, with a marginal decline of 3.3% compared to Rs. 2,406 crore in Q4 FY24. While growth in profit was subdued, it still signals the company's continued focus on maintaining operational efficiency. Earnings before tax and exceptional items stood at Rs. 3,377 crore, slightly higher than Rs. 3,264 crore in the same period last year.
Total expenses in Q4 rose to Rs. 12,136 crore, up from Rs. 11,813 crore in the previous year. This increase was primarily driven by higher employee benefits which stood at Rs. 789 crore, advertising and promotion spends (Rs. 1,454 crore), and other operating costs (Rs. 1,971 crore). Despite this, HUL maintained a healthy EBITDA margin of around 21.8%.

For the full financial year FY25, HUL's total income reached Rs. 62,646 crore, up from Rs. 61,442 crore in FY24. The company recorded an annual net profit of Rs. 10,644 crore, showing a modest rise over the previous year's Rs.10,114 crore.

HUL Final Dividend Announcement for FY25

Along with the Financial Results FY25 Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced a final dividend of Rs. 24 per equity share for the financial year ending 31st March 2025. This follows the interim dividend of Rs 19 and a special dividend of Rs. 10 per share paid on 21st November 2024. Consequently, the total dividend for FY25 amounts to Rs. 53 per share.

"The final dividend is subject to approval by the shareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). The record date for determining eligibility for the final dividend has been set for 23rd June 2025" the company said in a statement.

Outlook For Consumer Sector In India

UBS has upgraded the consumer sector outlook, stating that a potential rebound in the coming financial year and the main reason for this is the Earnings recovery expected in FY26, with a projected 13% growth, following a weaker performance in FY25.

"Income stimulus, including lower taxes and the upcoming Eighth Pay Commission, is anticipated to boost demand across several consumer categories and drive sustained earnings growth." the report further stated.


Flashback to HUL Q3 FY25 Results

In the previous quarter, Hindustan Unilever had reported a 19% YoY increase in net profit, which reached Rs.3,001 crore. However, revenue growth was more modest, up just 1% YoY to Rs.15,408 crore. Similarly, EBITDA saw a modest rise of 1% YoY to Rs. 3,570 crore. Despite these mixed results, HUL's performance for the quarter was still a positive surprise for investors.

HUL shares today are trading at around Rs. 2,459 rising 1.45% after flat opening this morning. This FMCG stock has gained 4.6% in the last five days and 9% this month.

Brokerage firm Systematix has maintained a Hold rating on Hindustan Unilever, assigning a target price of Rs. 2,645 against the current market price of Rs. 2449
