From today onwards, Oil marketing companies announced another revision in LPG prices in May for the commercial variant after a Rs. 60 hike in March 2026, giving a big shock to restaurant and industrial units using commercial gas cylinders.

As per the latest update, commercial 19Kg LPG prices have increased by Rs. 993 to Rs 3,152.50 in Bengaluru. However, there is no change in domestic 14.2Kg LPG cylinders, which is a big relief for households.

LPG, the primary cooking fuel for hundreds of millions of Indian households is supplied through three major government-backed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).Indane Gas, operated by Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Gas- operated by Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and HP Gas-operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL)

All LPG cylinder prices are government-regulated and nearly identical, so the real difference lies in service quality, delivery speed, and distributor reach.

Indane Gas has the widest network across India, so it is the most accessible option in both rural and urban areas. Bharat Gas is known for fast delivery and strong urban presence, especially in metro cities. HP Gas strikes a balance with reliable service and good rural reach.

So getting a new LPG connection is now simple, fast, and mostly online. The entire process can be completed from home with delivery in 3-5 working days.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply for LPG Connection

Step 1: Choose Your LPG Provider by visiting official portals:
Indane: indane.co.in
Bharat Gas: my.ebharatgas.com
HP Gas: myhpgas.in
Common portal: mylpg.in

Step 2: Click on New LPG Connection and enter name, mobile number, email ID and select nearest distributor

Step 3: Upload KYC documents in JPG/PDF (max 500 KB) Or submit physical copies at the distributor

Step 4: Pay Connection Charges which is Approx cost: Rs. 2,200 to Rs. 3,500. This includes cylinder security deposit, Regulator, Pipe and the First refill.

Step 5: Next Step is Aadhaar e-KYC Verification. OTP sent to Aadhaar-linked mobile, and approval will be given within 1-2 working days

Step 6: Cylinder, regulator, and accessories are delivered to the Doorstep. You can track status via the app or portal

Important Update from May 2026

As per the new gas cylinder booking rules, OTP verification is now mandatory at the time of delivery so make sure your mobile number is updated with your LPG account

Documents Required for New LPG Connection

All three LPG providers accept similar KYC documents:

For Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License

For Address Proof: Aadhaar Card, Electricity Bill, Rent Agreement, Voter ID

Other Requirements: 2 passport-size photos, Bank details (passbook/cancelled cheque for subsidy), Self-declaration (no existing LPG connection) and the Filled KYC application form

However in Some states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, a ration card is mandatory for a new LPG connection

How to Book LPG Cylinder Refill (Online & Offline)

Once you have an LPG connection, booking a refill cylinder is simple and can be done through multiple channels.
Mobile App Booking : You can use mobile apps like IndianOil ONE, Hello BPCL, or HP PAY, depending on your provider.

The government's UMANG app also allows LPG refill booking for all three providers through a single platform.
Online payments and bookings can also be done via Amazon Pay (for Indane users), while Bharat Gas and HP Gas offer WhatsApp booking services. Traditional methods like SMS booking, IVRS calls, or visiting the distributor office are still available for users who prefer offline options.

Currently, there is a minimum gap of 25 days between LPG refill bookings for 14.2 kg cylinders in the urban areas and 45 days gap for rural areas
