PC manufacturer HP India is poised to enter into an agreement with Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, to produce notebooks, desktops, and all-in-one PCs under the PLI 2.0 scheme in India. This collaboration will take place at a new Padget Electronics facility in Chennai, according to a joint statement released on Monday.

New Manufacturing Facility
Padget Electronics is establishing a new plant in Oragadam under the IT Hardware Production Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 Scheme. The facility will cover 3,00,000 square feet and is expected to generate 1,500 direct jobs. Once fully operational, it aims to produce 2 million units annually.
Ipsita Dasgupta, HP's managing director for the India market, expressed pride in participating in the government's Make in India initiative. "Through this partnership, we look forward to offering our customers in India an enhanced portfolio of domestically manufactured products that combine HP's cutting-edge technology with Dixon's manufacturing expertise," Dasgupta said.
Commitment to Make in India
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Padget Electronics Private Limited and HP India Sales Private Limited will facilitate the manufacturing of these devices under PLI 2.0, pending the signing of definitive agreements. This partnership underscores HP's commitment to local manufacturing and aligns with India's Make in India campaign.
Dixon Technologies Vice Chairman and Managing Director Atul B Lall highlighted HP's global presence and technological prowess. "HP is a leading global player in their field known for their technologically advanced products with a worldwide presence in more than 170 countries," he stated. Lall added that combining HP's vision and rigorous processes with Dixon's manufacturing expertise would benefit Indian customers.
The production at the new Chennai facility will be managed by Padget Electronics, ensuring that HP's notebooks, desktops, and all-in-one PCs meet high standards of quality and innovation. This move is expected to enhance the availability of locally manufactured HP products in the Indian market.
The collaboration between HP India and Padget Electronics signifies a significant step towards boosting domestic manufacturing capabilities. It also reflects both companies' dedication to supporting India's economic growth through local production initiatives.
This partnership is set to strengthen HP's market presence in India while contributing to job creation and technological advancement within the country. The new facility's capacity to produce millions of units annually highlights the scale and ambition of this venture.
The agreement between HP India and Padget Electronics marks an important milestone in India's journey towards becoming a hub for electronics manufacturing. By leveraging Dixon Technologies' expertise and HP's technological leadership, this collaboration aims to deliver high-quality products to Indian consumers.
The joint effort by HP India and Padget Electronics underlines a shared vision for innovation and excellence in manufacturing. This initiative is poised to make a substantial impact on India's IT hardware sector by enhancing local production capabilities and creating employment opportunities.
This strategic partnership not only aligns with government policies but also sets a precedent for future collaborations aimed at bolstering India's manufacturing landscape. The establishment of the new facility in Chennai represents a significant investment in the country's industrial infrastructure.
HP India's collaboration with Padget Electronics exemplifies how multinational companies can contribute to national development goals through strategic partnerships. This initiative is expected to drive growth in India's electronics manufacturing sector while providing consumers with advanced technology products made locally.
