ICICI Bank Announces Latest Credit Card Fees & Rewards; Here’s What Changing From 2026

This article outlines ICICI Bank's 2026 changes to credit card charges, including wallet loading and online gaming fees, transport reward caps, revised entertainment benefits, and premium card adjustments. It explains how these updates affect day-to-day spending and high-value transactions for different card tiers.

ICICI Bank credit card users will face higher costs and tighter rewards from January-February 2026. The bank is introducing new fees on wallet loading and online gaming, capping transport rewards, and revising entertainment benefits. Many changes hit day-to-day spending, while some target high-value transactions and premium cards, especially frequent travellers and international shoppers.

The revision affects almost all retail ICICI Bank credit card customers, with changes starting from January 15, 2026 and more from February 1, 2026. The bank has stated that new rules will apply in phases, so cardholders may see different updates appear on their accounts over these two months.

Online gaming fees under ICICI Bank credit card charges

One of the clearest changes concerns online gaming payments. A 2 percent fee will apply on credit card spends at platforms such as Dream11, Rummy Culture, Junglee Games and MPL. The charge will cover deposits and similar transactions, and will also extend to any new, comparable gaming merchant category codes introduced later.

Wallet loading costs in ICICI Bank credit card charges

Third-party wallet funding is also becoming more expensive. ICICI Bank will charge 1 percent on wallet loading transactions of Rs 5,000 or more. This applies to popular wallets including Amazon Pay, Paytm, MobiKwik, Freecharge and OlaMoney. Smaller wallet loads below Rs 5,000 are not covered by this new fee structure.

Travel spending limits in ICICI Bank credit card charges

Transportation-related transactions now attract new caps and charges. A 1 percent fee will apply on transport spends above Rs 50,000 under select merchant category codes, mainly affecting high-value travel costs. Reward points on transportation spends are also being restricted each month, with different limits for premium and mid-tier ICICI Bank credit cards.

Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Sapphiro and Rubyx customers will earn rewards on transportation spends only up to Rs 20,000 each month. Coral, Platinum, Manchester United, CSK, Expressions and other mid-range cards will have a lower limit of Rs 10,000 per month. These reward caps mainly affect bookings for railways and buses made using credit cards.

Entertainment perks reshaped in ICICI Bank credit card charges

Entertainment benefits are being tightened, particularly the popular BookMyShow Buy-One-Get-One movie ticket feature. Cardholders will need to spend Rs 25,000 in the previous calendar quarter to unlock this offer in the next quarter. From February 2026, Instant Platinum credit cards will stop providing this BookMyShow benefit entirely.

Other eligible ICICI Bank cards will continue to provide the BookMyShow Buy-One-Get-One facility, but only for customers meeting the quarterly spend condition. This means casual users, who do not reach Rs 25,000 in a quarter, may lose access to the offer even if the card earlier allowed it without such a threshold.

Premium card tweaks in ICICI Bank credit card charges

Super-premium Emeralde cards see some of the biggest tweaks. The Dynamic Currency Conversion fee on Emeralde Metal, Emeralde Private and Emeralde (PVC) cards is being raised to 2 percent. New add-on Emeralde Metal cards will attract a one-time joining fee of Rs 3,500, making family usage costlier.

Emeralde Metal holders will also lose reward points on several spend categories. The bank will not award points on Government services, Fuel purchases, Rent and property management payments, Tax payments and Third-party wallet transactions. Frequent users of these categories may see a sharp drop in their monthly reward earnings.

Foreign currency and DCC under ICICI Bank credit card charges

Dynamic Currency Conversion charges are being reworked across multiple product lines, affecting international and cross-currency transactions. The revised DCC fee depends on the card variant, with lower rates on some co-branded travel products and higher rates on many other ICICI Bank credit cards.

Key DCC fee changes include revised percentages on MakeMyTrip Travel cards, Times Black and Amazon Pay ICICI cards, along with higher slabs for several other variants, including MMT Signature and Platinum. The updated structure is shown below for clarity.

Card variantRevised DCC fee
MakeMyTrip Travel cards0.99%
Times Black1.49%
Amazon Pay ICICI1.99%
Several other cards, including MMT Signature and PlatinumUp to 3.5%

Other service tweaks in ICICI Bank credit card charges

Beyond spending fees, some service-related charges are also rising. Branch cash payment charges have been increased, making over-the-counter repayments more expensive. Foreclosure charges will now apply to cancelled Instant EMIs, so customers who convert purchases to EMIs and then close them early will pay extra.

HPCL Super Saver Credit Card holders will still earn reward points on insurance payments, but only up to Rs 40,000 per month at the current earn rate. Any insurance spends above that monthly limit will not generate additional rewards. This change could particularly affect customers using the card for large premium payments.

Most of these ICICI Bank credit card changes start from January 15, 2026, with specific reward caps and benefit withdrawals kicking in from February 1, 2026. ICICI Bank has asked customers to check the revised terms and charges closely so they can adjust spending habits and avoid unexpected fees on regular transactions.
