IMD 7-Day Karnataka Weather Forecast: Very Heavy Rain Likely Till July 11; Coastal Area on High Alert

The weather Department has forecast an active spell of monsoon rainfall in the state over the state with very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds in several regions.

Coastal Karnataka, the Malnad region and South Interior Karnataka are expected to bear the brunt of the weather system, with the most intense rainfall likely between July 5 and July 8.

Karnataka Weather Today

Karnataka weather on Sunday July 5 is expected to see light to moderate rainfall as per IMD.

Scattered heavy rainfall is expected across the state, while coastal and hilly districts could experience very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Strong surface winds are also likely over parts of Karnataka.

Very Heavy Rain Likely From July 5 to July 8

According to IMD's latest seven-day forecast for Karnataka weather, very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, the Malnad region and South Interior Karnataka from July 5 to July 8.

Additionally, Uttara Kannada district is likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 7 and July 8, increasing the risk of waterlogging, flash floods and travel disruptions.

Coastal Karnataka

Residents of Coastal districts are expected to experience the most intense rainfall during the coming week.

July 5: Very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, squally winds and strong surface winds.
July 6: Very heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
July 7: Very heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong surface winds.
July 8: Very heavy rain.
July 9 to July 11: Very heavy rain likely to continue at isolated places.

North Interior Karnataka

Rainfall activity is expected to stay widespread, with heavy showers continuing through the week.

July 5: Heavy rain with thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds.
July 6: Heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong surface winds.
July 7: Heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
July 8: Very heavy rain likely.
July 9 to July 11: Heavy rain expected at isolated places.

South Interior Karnataka

South Interior Karnataka weather is also likely to be wet due to persistent rainfall over the next week.

July 5: Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
July 6: Heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds.
July 7: Heavy rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
July 8: Very heavy rain likely.
July 9 to July 11: Heavy rain expected at isolated places.

Apart from Karnataka, IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in several other parts of the country.

• Heavy rainfall is likely over Coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
• Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Gujarat, Odisha, Konkan & Goa, Central Maharashtra and West Madhya Pradesh.
• Heavy rainfall is also likely over Kerala, Assam, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
• Very heavy rainfall is forecast over Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Tamil Nadu.
• Heavy rainfall is also expected in Puducherry, Uttarakhand and West Rajasthan.
