IMD Predicts More Rainfall in Delhi, Bangalore; Heatwave in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune; Check Today's Weather Update

IMD Weather Update Today: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in Delhi and Bangalore on Friday. Meanwhile, there is unlikely to be any relief from scorching heatwave like situation in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Thane and other Maharashtra districts.

Delhi, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and several districts of Karnataka witnessed relief from scorching summer due to rainfall on Thursday.

IMD Update: How Will Be Weather Today in Delhi?

The Regional Weather Forecasting Agency (RWFA) has predicted cloudy weather in Delhi and thunderstorms. The national capital is likely to have cloudy sky and there will be rain in parts of Delhi today accompanied by thunderstorm and strong surface winds. People in Delhi got significant relief from heatwave like conditions on Thursday after it rained yesterday evening in Delhi.

Before Delhi rains, people in the city experienced high stormy winds and mud storms on Thursday. IMD has indicated further rain in the city. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to remain between 36-38 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature is likely ti remain between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Delhi will decline gradually in the coming days, says the IMD update.

The recent episode of rain has come after Delhi was suffering due to scorching summer. The IMD had recorded a warm night in Delhi on Wednesday with the minimum temperature recorded at 25.9 degrees Celsius, nearly six notches above normal and the highest of the season so far.

According to the IMD, a "warm night" is declared when the maximum temperature remains 40 degrees Celsius or more, and the minimum temperature is 4.5 to 6.4 degrees celsius above normal.

A "very warm night" is declared when the minimum temperature departure exceeds 6.4 degrees Celsius.The city's minimum temperature of 25.9 degrees Celsius, released on Thursday, was 5.9 degrees above normal - breaking Wednesday's record of 25.6 degrees - making it the highest minimum temperature in April in the last three years, according to official data.

IMD Update: Bangalore, Other Karnataka Districts on Rain Watch

Karnataka's capital, Bangalore, is likely to receive rainfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to IMD weather prediction. The city is expected to witness cloudy weather with mild rain shower. Minimum and maximum temperatures in Bangalore today are likely to be 23 and 33 degree Celsius. As per the weather forecast, there will be a slight decrease in minimum temperature in the city in coming days. In the wake of stormy weather and heavy rainfall, IMD has put several Karnataka districts on rainwatch to alert the local authorities and other residents of a potential damage due to harsh weather conditions.

IMD Update: Heatwave Grips Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Other Maharashtra Districts

The weather forecasting agency has predicted heatwave like situation in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and other Maharashtra districts. Mumbai will experience partly cloudy sky today with maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 34 and 22 degree Celsius. However, certain Maharashtra districts are likely to experience rainfall.
"There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain accompanied by winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in the districts of Vidarbha," wrote IMD in a social media post on Thursday.
