IMD Weather: Yellow Alert in Delhi, Orange in 3 States Due To Heatwave; Rain Predicted in Chennai

Weather Today: The India Meteorological Department has sounded a yellow alert for Delhi and an orange alert for Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as certain parts of the state are set to witness severe heatwave-like conditions on Wednesday, April 9. In contrast to an intense heatwave in north India, Bangalore and Chennai may embrace rainfall today, said IMD in its update.

IMD Weather Today: Heatwave Alert for Delhi, Rajasthan Gujarat, MP

IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, and an orange alert for regions in Rajasthan, Gujarat and western Madhya Pradesh due to intense heatwave. Temperature in more than 21 cities of these states has already shot above 42 degree Celsius in the past few days, indicating a further rise in temperature due to scorching heat.

The weather forecasting agency had issued a red alert for Gujarat for Tuesday, the state is under orange alert till April 10. Saurashtra and Kutch regions of the state are likely to witness the maximum rise in temperature.

Apart from Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha will also witness scorching heat on Wednesday. Heat wave conditions very likely at some/many places over West Rajasthan on 08th & 09th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets on 08th April.

"Heat wave conditions likely at isolated to some pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch, East Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi on 08th & 09th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets over the region 08th April," read IMD's latest weather bulletin.

-There will be heatwave-like conditions in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, and the Gujarat region on April 9 and 10.

-Heatwave like conditions will be accompanied by warm night conditions in isolated pockets of West Madhya Pradesh during 08th-10th; Rajasthan, Marathawada, Madhya Maharashtra on 08th & 09th and Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh and Delhi on 08th April.

-There will be hot and humid weather over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Konka, Goa and Maharashtra on 9 April.

IMD Weather Today: Update on Delhi Heatwave

The national capital region, Delhi-NCR, will witness severe heatwave-like conditions on Wednesday. According to Regional Weather Forecasting Agency (RWFC), Delhi is under yellow alert due to heatwave like condition on Wednesday, April 9. Delhi heatwave will be accompanied with warm nights and partly cloudy sky. Delhi's maximum temperature today can go as high as 41 degree Celsius, whereas minimum temperature can remain around 22 to 24 degree Celsius.

Apart from Delhi, severe Heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Vidarbha, and Gujarat.

Bangalore Weather Today

Karnataka's capital will experience favourable weather conditions for rainfall today. As per IMD update, there will be parly cloudy sky in the metro city. Bangalore rain conditions will grow more intense in the coming days, as IMD has predicted rainshowers in the city from 10 to 13 April.

Chennai Weather Today

People in Chennai will suffer due to the intense heat and humid weather today. There is also minor possibility of rainshowers today. The weather forecasting agency has predicted light rain in a few places in Chennai. The day temperature in Chennai can go as high as 36 degree Celsius. Likewise, warm and intense humit conditions will prevail in the rest of the state. However, IMD has predicted mild possibility of rainfall inthe state until April 14.
