The Income tax department in its tweet today said, "ITR filing for AY 2022-23 is available on e-filing portal. Check your Form 26AS, AIS & other relevant documents before submission. Be an early filer". Notably, the last date for filing ITR for Ay 2022-23 is July 31.

Income Tax Dept. Asks Taxpayers To Be An Early Filer

The department's new income tax portal launched last year enables taxpayers to easily log in into their e-filing account directly via Aadhaar and PAN. Further, accessing the account, taxpayers can know about the pending actions, view year-wise ITRs and tax deposits and also can check grievance status.Earlier the same details were provided under different tabs, but now features under a single dashboard.

Taxpayers also have been given the option of including their Chartered Accountants who can view the details and take requisite step on behalf of the taxpayer.

Notably, for the Fy2021-22, ITR forms were notified in April, nevertheless experts advised salaried taxpayers not to file their ITR before May 31. The reason being that the due date for TDS return filing was May 31, 2022 and without it taxpayer's form 26AS is not updated.
