Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas Cylinder Rules: LPG Connection To Be Suspended In June? How To Appy For PNG?
LPG gas cylinders have gained attention since the US-Israel-Iran war, accompanied by price hikes and new measures for booking and connection. Amidst the 25-day and 45-day rules, there is also the possibility of losing your LPG connection if you have a PNG facility available in your house. This is called the 'No Dual Gas Connection' or 'One Household, One Gas Connection' method.
The government's main goal is to reduce dependency upon LPG, curb black marketing and ensure that customers who genuinely need LPG receive priority over households who have other options for cooking gas. The other option is piped natural gas (PNG).

Gas Cylinder New Rules:
According to reports, citizens are already receiving messages to surrender their LPG connection if they have PNG. The government also mandated the removal of all LPG connections for societies or households that have PNG infrastructure.
In March 2026, the government gave an ultimatum of three months to switch to PNG if you already have the facility. Additionally, the government asked PNG customers to surrender their LPGs and to not apply for new LPG connection or refill.
Why Your LPG Gas Cylinder Connection Will Be Cut?
1. The new rule has asked households with PNG infrastructure to switch their cooking gas to PNG within 90 days since the date of the notice which was on March 24, 2026. Any non-compliance could lead to suspension of LPG supply.
2. The second rule is that no dual cooking gas connection is allowed. If you have both LPG and PNG system in your household, you will be required to surrender your LPG connection accordingly.
3. The government has strictly directed societies or RWAs to comply with pipeline installation. If a society or RWA denies or delays PNG installation, then LPG supply will be cut-off for the entire building.
4. If there is any diversion of usage of LPG cylinders from domestic to commercial then an immediate discontinuation of gas cylinder will be imposed along with legal action.
Whose LPG Connection Will Not Be Cut-Off?
1. If the household does not have any PNG infrastructure or option, then the 3-months deadline does not apply to these LPG users.
2. According to an Angel One report, if PNG installation is not feasible, users can continue LPG usage with proper certification.
3. Also, the report highlighted that rural and non-notified urban households will continue receiving LPG, although refill intervals may be regulated.
4. KYC is must for holding LPG. If you have completed Aadhaar-based verification then your LPG connection will continue.
Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas Cylinder Connection To Be Cut-Off, But When?
Going by the notice date of March 24, 2026, the 90-days deadline ends on June 24, 2026. However, the government has not confirmed or given any deadline date as of now. This also increases the probability of extension in switch to PNG facility.
Earlier in March, Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal urged citizens to start applying for PNG connections in areas where the service is available and avoid the risk of losing your LPG connection. He said, "I want people who have not yet availed the pipeline gas, despite the availability of the service in the area, to start applying before June 30. How to provide connections is a matter concerned with the service provider. The company will ensure that."
Hence, stay tuned of the deadline and ensure to comply with the new rules to avoid difficulty in using cooking gas.
