In celebration of India's 78th Independence Day, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with MyGov, has announced an engaging online quiz contest themed "Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative in Defence Production." The event, which runs from July 26 to August 10, 2024, aims to raise awareness and enthusiasm around India's self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
In an official notification, the University Grants Commission (UGC) highlighted the importance of this event. "As you are aware, Independence Day is celebrated every year with zeal and enthusiasm. This year, the Ministry of Defence in association with MyGov shall be organizing an online quiz contest on the theme of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative in Defence Production' from July 26 to August 10, 2024," the notification read.

The UGC has requested Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to widely disseminate information about the quiz among students, faculty members, and other stakeholders. The call for maximum participation shows the significance of the initiative in fostering a sense of national pride and awareness about India's strides in defence production.
The quiz is designed to be accessible and engaging, catering to a wide audience by being bilingual in Hindi and English. Participants will have five minutes to answer a maximum of 20 questions, making it a fast-paced and exciting challenge.
To incentivize participation, the Ministry of Defence has announced lucrative cash prizes for the top ten winners. The first prize winner will receive Rs 25,000, the second prize winner will get Rs 15,000, and the third prize winner will be awarded Rs 10,000. Additionally, there will be seven consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 each. This prize structure is expected to draw interest from participants nationwide.
Individuals interested in participating in the quiz will need to provide basic personal information, including their name, father's/mother's name, date of birth, correspondence address, email address, and mobile number. After the announcement of the results, winners will be required to submit bona fide documents to verify their identity, age, address, and bank details. This ensures a fair and transparent process for awarding the prizes.
The Ministry of Defence and MyGov's joint initiative is a part of the broader "Atmanirbhar Bharat" campaign, which emphasizes self-reliance in various sectors, including defence production. By focusing the quiz on this theme, the organizers aim to educate and inspire participants about India's achievements and ongoing efforts in developing indigenous defence technologies and manufacturing capabilities.
The quiz not only serves as a medium of celebration but also as an educational tool, providing participants with valuable knowledge about India's defence sector. It is an opportunity for citizens to learn about the critical role of self-reliance in national security and to appreciate the efforts being made towards making India a global leader in defence production.
Higher Education Institutions across the country are urged to promote this initiative actively and ensure robust participation from their communities. This collective effort will not only honour India's independence but also celebrate its strides towards self-reliance and innovation in defence.
