The World Bank's Logistics Performance for 2023 has seen the growth of India's improved ranking as the country occupied the 38th position, up by six places. The significant improvement in both soft and hard infrastructure and technology has helped the country to march up in the ranking list.

As per the report, the country's rank in the index of 139 countries has grown to 38th place from its earlier 44th position in 2018.
In 2013, the country's ranking for international shipments grew significantly owing to improvement in the country's port performance. The country's ranking improved by four places to rank 48 in logistics competence and equality.
The report added that the "End-to-end supply chain digitalization, especially in emerging economies, is allowing countries to shorten port delays by up to 70% compared to those in developed countries. Moreover, demand for green logistics is rising, with 75% of shippers looking for environmentally friendly options when exporting to high-income countries".
"While most time is spent in shipping, the biggest delays occur at seaports, airports, and multimodal facilities. Policies targeting these facilities can help improve reliability," said Christina Wiederer, Senior Economist at the World Bank group's macroeconomics, trade & investment global practice.
In 2023, India's ranking for international shipments improved phenomenally, as it moved up from 44 in 2018 to 22nd position. India also surged four places to rank at 48th place in logistics competence and equality.
