India will be the exclusive partner for the European Hydrogen Week in November 2024, as announced by the New & Renewable Energy Ministry on Thursday. This partnership was revealed on the second day of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH-2024) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

India-EU Hydrogen Week 2024

Focus on Green Regulations

The event underscored India's commitment to aligning with EU green regulations to enhance exports. A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between Chane Terminal from the Netherlands and ACME Cleantech from India for establishing Ammonia import terminals. This collaboration aims to strengthen ties and promote sustainable energy solutions.

Global Perspectives on Green Hydrogen

Sessions during the event featured insights from the EU, Australia, and the Netherlands on the opportunities and challenges in the Green Hydrogen sector. The EU session, chaired by Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, emphasized green hydrogen's role in global decarbonization efforts. They discussed how reforming the Emission Trading System (ETS) could help price carbon effectively, promoting hydrogen as a viable alternative to fossil fuels.

Over 100 stalls showcased the latest technologies and innovations in the green hydrogen value chain. The exhibition attracted over 2000 delegates, including academicians, industry experts, start-ups, policymakers, and diplomats. This diverse participation highlighted the growing interest and investment in green hydrogen technologies.

National Poster Competition

A national poster competition took place alongside the exhibition, where participants presented their ideas and innovations for a sustainable future. This competition provided a platform for showcasing creative solutions and fostering innovation in green energy.

The day also included two Country Roundtables focusing on Singapore and South Korea. Additionally, an industry roundtable for the India-US Hydrogen Taskforce and a breakthrough roundtable on Hydrogen facilitated deeper international collaboration and strategic dialogues. These discussions aimed to strengthen global partnerships and advance the development of green hydrogen technologies.

The event highlighted India's proactive approach to addressing global environmental challenges through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions. By collaborating with international stakeholders, India aims to position itself as a leader in the green hydrogen sector.

The announcement of India's exclusive partnership with European Hydrogen Week signifies a significant step towards fostering international cooperation in sustainable energy. This collaboration is expected to drive advancements in green hydrogen technology and contribute to global decarbonization efforts.
