India Finland strategic partnership talks as Jaishankar meets President Alexander Stubb at Kultaranta

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Finnish President Alexander Stubb at the Kultaranta Talks in Finland. The discussion focused on shifting geopolitical trends and rising global uncertainty. Jaishankar said India and Finland remained focused on deeper ties. The meeting also reaffirmed the role of diplomacy during unstable international conditions.

Jaishankar attended the Kultaranta Talks on the last stop of a two-nation tour. Jaishankar arrived in Finland from Bulgaria. The annual forum is hosted by the Finnish President. It brings together policymakers, diplomats, and experts. The group discusses major foreign and security issues facing the world.

Jaishankar described the exchange in a social media post. Jaishankar wrote: "Pleased to meet President Alexander Stubb of Finland on the sidelines of the Kultaranta Talks. We exchanged views on the evolving geopolitical situation and underscored the importance of diplomacy in navigating an increasingly uncertain global environment,\"

During the meeting, the two leaders shared views on global and regional developments. Both sides stressed dialogue as tensions rise in many regions. Jaishankar said India and Finland were committed to closer coordination in multilateral forums. The coordination would focus on issues where both countries share interests.

Jaishankar said the partnership also centred on digitalisation and sustainability. Both sides committed to moving the strategic partnership forward in these areas. The meeting followed earlier steps taken this year. India and Finland raised ties to a strategic partnership during Stubb's visit to India earlier in 2026.

Jaishankar also met Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen during the visit. The talks reviewed progress in the India-Finland strategic partnership. The two sides discussed cooperation in emerging technology sectors. The conversation covered a range of areas where the countries see scope for joint work.

India UAE strategic partnership discussed at Kultaranta Talks

On the sidelines of the same forum, Jaishankar met Emirati Assistant Foreign Minister Lana Nusseibeh. The two reviewed advancements in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE. Jaishankar and Lana Nusseibeh also exchanged notes on regional issues of mutual interest.

The set of meetings took place alongside the wider Kultaranta Talks programme. The forum continued to serve as a space for high-level exchanges on global challenges. Jaishankar used the visit to engage multiple partners. The discussions covered diplomacy, technology cooperation, and coordination on regional matters.
