India's PC Market Rises 7.1% to 3.39M Units in Q2; HP Leads with a 32% Share

India's traditional PC market, encompassing desktops, notebooks, and workstations, saw a 7.1% rise in shipments to 3.39 million units from April to June this year, according to IDC. HP led the market with a 31.7% share, followed by Lenovo at 17.5%, Dell at 14.8%, Acer Group at 14.7%, and Asus at 7.1%.

Consumer Segment Growth

The consumer segment experienced an 11.2% year-on-year increase in the second quarter of 2024. Both online and offline channels contributed to this growth, with the e-tail channel expanding by 22.4% year-on-year.

Commercial Segment Performance

The commercial segment also grew by 3.5% year-on-year, driven by higher demand in the SMB (small and medium business) and LB (large business) segments. These segments saw year-on-year growth rates of 12.4% and 33.1%, respectively.

Shipments of desktops, notebooks, and workstations increased by 5.9%, 7.4%, and 12.4%, respectively, on a year-on-year basis during the June 2024 quarter.

IDC India and South Asia Research Manager Bharath Shenoy noted that this marks the fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth for the consumer segment.

Vendors initiated back-to-school and college campaigns, which boosted demand in the e-tail channel during online sales events. They also stocked up for upcoming Independence Day sales, contributing to healthy growth in consumer PC shipments.

The data from IDC Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker highlights that HP maintained its lead in the PC market with a significant share of 31.7%.
