Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini in Bratislava to review the growing India Slovakia partnership. The talks covered digitalisation, innovation, defence, and nuclear energy, alongside manufacturing, transport, investment links, and biofuels. Both leaders also highlighted opportunities in digital technology and agreed on strengthening people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini on Monday in Bratislava. The leaders discussed wider India-Slovakia cooperation, including digitalisation, innovation, defence and nuclear energy. The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace. Both sides said the relationship was growing, alongside ongoing cooperation between the two countries.

Following the talks, Modi wrote online that the discussion covered several sectors. "Today’s talks with President Pellegrini covered diverse subjects such as closer ties in manufacturing, transport, innovation and investment linkages, energy, biofuels and more,\" Modi said. Modi also pointed to digital cooperation and stronger community links.

Modi added, \"There is also immense scope to cooperate in the field of digital technology. We also talked about deepening people-to-people linkages,\". The leaders also recalled Pellegrini’s visit to India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs said they reviewed trade, investment and technology ties.
Pellegrini also commented online about earlier discussions in New Delhi. \"I am glad that @narendramodi and I can build on the open and friendly dialogue we began during my visit to New Delhi this February,\" Pellegrini posted on social media. Modi responded with a message about continuing their exchange.
Modi wrote, \"Happy to have continued the important conversations we had when we last met. Your insights are indeed great to hear,\" Modi said. The Ministry of External Affairs added that the leaders also discussed regional and global issues. The ministry said both countries welcomed stronger people-to-people links.
India Slovakia partnership talks as MEA outlines cooperation areas
The Ministry of External Affairs said the leaders were satisfied with current cooperation. The statement listed trade, investment, technology and people-to-people ties as key areas. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also posted online. Jaiswal said the leaders discussed expanding cooperation across many sectors and taking forward friendly relations.
During the Presidential Palace visit, Modi and Pellegrini viewed a painting exhibition. The Slovak artworks focused on the theme \"Varanasi City\". They also watched a Yoga demonstration by Slovak school children. Later, Pellegrini hosted a banquet dinner to honour Prime Minister Modi, according to the account of events.
India Slovakia partnership talks follow agreements with Robert Fico
Earlier, India and Slovakia raised ties to a comprehensive partnership. The two sides also finalised 11 agreements after talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. These covered areas such as migration, digital technology and defence. Modi and Fico also met Slovak business and industry leaders from several sectors.
The business meeting included representatives from railways, defence and the automotive sector. It also included energy, nuclear energy, IT and healthcare. Modi said, \"Had insightful discussions on strengthening economic ties, boosting investment flows and expanding collaboration in innovation, technology, manufacturing and more,\" after the meeting.
According to Jaiswal, Modi highlighted India’s reform steps and policy changes. Jaiswal said Modi mentioned the SHANTI Act and asked Slovak firms to use opportunities in India. The leaders also discussed transport, green energy, emerging technology and defence production, Jaiswal added in the same update.
The Ministry of External Affairs said Modi invited Slovak companies to explore opportunities in India. The areas listed included infrastructure, defence and renewable energy. The list also included digital innovation, semiconductors, AI and healthcare. Slovak industry leaders welcomed India’s reforms towards Viksit Bharat, the statement said.
Slovak industry leaders also referred to the India-EU FTA. They said its implementation would create new business opportunities, according to the ministry’s statement. The government updates described the meetings as part of Modi’s weeklong Europe visit. The day’s engagements linked political talks with cultural and business events.
