Indian Indices End Flat; FMCG, Realty Indices Gain
Markets after starting on a soft note in trade on August 26 and seeing bouts of volatility amid the derivatives expiry today are set to end the trading day on a flattish note.
Meanwhile, broader indices had their run, showing outperformance. India VIX climbed higher to 13.52.
Among the top Nifty gainers in trade today have been Britannia. Tata Consumer Products, HDFC Life, BPCL and Reliance, while laggards have been Bharti Airtel, JSW Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Hindalco and SBI.
Sectorally, barring FMCG, financial service, private bank and realty all indices in the red.
Centre's stake in BPCL shall be acquired by Vedanta as well as 2 US funds- Apollo Global and I Squared Capital . On the news, the fuel retailer was among the top gainers on the Nifty.
Meanwhile, European indices were seen choppy with losses of up to 0.7% on the German DAX after the economic confidence in the country has gone for a toss.
