Indian Markets Close At New High; Broader Markets Continue To Outperform
In trade today on June 7, 2021, markets ended at a new closing high on both the benchmark indices, with Nifty gaining 0.52% or 81 points to end at 15751.65, while Sensex logged gains of 228 points and settled at 52,328.51. Broader markets continued to exhibit outperformance with Nifty Midcap 100 index too hitting a new high today. India VIX continued to fell in today's session also.
Among Nifty sectoral indices, IT and media gained the most by over 1 percent, while other indices that ended in the green include Bank, Auto, FMCG. The PSU Bank pack was driven by news report which listed the list of PSU banks likely to be privatized.
Top gainers on the Nifty include Adani Ports, Power Grid, NTPC, Shree Cements and Tata Motors, while losers on the NSE index have been Bajaj Twins, HDFC, JSW Steel and Divis Labs.
Bajaj Finance ended lower by over 4 percent after a weak business update. The NBFC company estimated that its Gross as well as net NPA can be higher in Q1 and Q2 of FY22.
Another stock in news today, Interglobe Aviation which posted weak quarterly numbers for March quarter pared its gains and ended flat.
Meanwhile, European markets at the time of writing this report were on the upside with FTSE up over 0.2 percent.
