Indian Markets Closed; Asia Advances As Covid Related Fatalities Slow

Indian markets were closed today on account of Mahavir Jayanti . Most Asian markets traded higher as covid infections began to peak in select countries and deaths began to slow.

The S&P 500 Futures jumped almost 3 per cent in trade, while the Japanese Nikkei was up more than 2 per cent and the S&P ASX 200 was also up 2 per cent in trade.

In the latest developments on the COVID-19 health crisis, New York state fatalities fell for the first time, though President Donald Trump warned that a "very horrendous" phase in the pandemic is approaching. Across Italy and Spain fatalities and infections began tapering.

Indian markets ended lower for the seventh straight week, with benchmark indices falling sharply.

It is a truncated week for the Indian markets, with Friday also to see the stock markets closed on account of Good Friday.
