Indian Railways Gears Up for Chhath Puja with 283 Special Trains

In a bid to cater to the festive rush, the Indian Railway authorities have announced the operation of 283 special trains that will connect major destinations across the country. This year's initiative builds on the success of 2022 when Indian Railways ran 216 special trains for Chhat Puja.

The special trains will ply on various routes, providing easy access to Chhath Puja celebrants. Some of the key routes include Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Danapur-Saharsa, Danapur-Bengaluru, Ambala-Saharsa, Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur, Puri-Patna, Okha-Naharlagun, Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri, Kochuveli-Bengaluru, Benaras-Mumbai, and Howrah-Raxaul.

To ensure the safety and convenience of passengers, Indian Railways has implemented a range of crowd-control measures. These include forming queues at terminal stations under the supervision of Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff, stationing additional RPF personnel at major stations, and deploying officers on emergency duty at key stations.

Passengers can expect frequent and timely announcements of train arrivals and departures at railway stations, along with vital platform information. Moreover, 'May I Help You' booths will be available at key stations, allowing travellers to request support from RPF personnel and Train Ticket Examiners (TTEs).

In case of medical emergencies, major stations are equipped with medical teams and ambulances staffed by paramedical teams who are on standby to provide assistance. Instructions for maintaining cleanliness in waiting halls, retiring rooms, platforms, and stations have been issued by Zonal Headquarters to ensure a hygienic environment.

The Security and Vigilance Department will maintain a vigilant eye to prevent any malpractice during this busy travel season.
