Indian Railways Train Delay: As North India, including the national capital Delhi and other neighboring states are grappling with intense cold train passengers are experiencing a significant delay in trains due to fog and low visibility. Air travel has also been impacted due to the biting cold as several flights have been delayed this week.

The New Delhi Railway Station saw several passengers stranded as 30 trains in and around Delhi were running late on Tuesday as fog-accompanied coldwave conditions continued in the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that these cold to severe cold wave conditions will persist across the northwestern plains for the next three days. Passengers expecting a smooth journey into the capital were met with disruptions, ranging from minor 30-minute setbacks to substantial 6-hour delays.

Low visibility, bone-chilling cold, and dense fog in Delhi

Delhi continues to grapple with cold conditions today morning as the minimum temperature fell to 3.3 degrees Celsius, this winter season's lowest. Maximum temperature settled at 19.7 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for very dense fog. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, Delhi's minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was four notches below the season's average.

The national capital is expected to observe moderate fog conditions with clear sky until January 21.

Delhi Airport Flight Status:

Delhi's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 341 under the 'very poor' category at 6:00 am today while it was 398 yesterday, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

As many as 30 flights departing from Delhi's Indira Gandhi Internation Airport were delayed and another 17 flights were canceled due to freezing cold, according to ANI report quoting officials.
