Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, 12-16 Oct: Sensex, Nifty Likely to Extend Recovery After 8-Week Losses
Indian stock markets enter the trading week of October 12-16, 2026, with cautious optimism after the benchmark indices snapped an eight-week losing streak, their longest run of weekly declines in nearly 25 years. The Nifty 50 settled at 22,520, while the BSE Sensex closed at 72,472, with the indices gaining around 0.5-0.8% over the week.
Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, 12 to 16 October: Sensex, Nifty Weekly Prediction
The recovery has offered some relief to investors after weeks of persistent selling pressure. However, the market outlook remains uncertain as foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, global bond yields, crude oil price movements, currency trends and the ongoing September-quarter earnings season are expected to influence sentiment.

With the festive season underway, investors will also track domestic consumption trends and buying activity during the Navratri period.
The Nifty's weekly rebound of 0.44% followed eight consecutive weeks of losses, with the index finding support near its trendline support and the 100-week exponential moving average (EMA). The recovery from oversold territory has raised the possibility of a short-term technical rebound, although market participants are likely to remain cautious until the index moves above key resistance levels.
The Sensex and Nifty may attempt to extend their recovery during October 12-16 if domestic buying remains strong and global financial conditions stay supportive. However, the sustainability of the rebound will depend on whether institutional inflows can offset continued foreign selling. Any renewed rise in global yields, weakness in the rupee or a sharp movement in crude oil prices could put pressure on equities.
"As long as the weekly low around 22,150- 22,200 remains intact, the index could extend its recovery towards 22,750, followed by 23,000, near the 21 day EMA. However, the broader trend remains weak, and the rebound should be viewed cautiously until the index reclaims key resistance levels. Sustained buying momentum will be crucial to confirm a stronger recovery," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.
The 22,150-22,200 zone will therefore remain an important support area for the Nifty in the coming week. On the upside, 22,750 and 23,000 are the levels to watch if buying momentum strengthens. A failure to sustain above support could revive selling pressure, while a move beyond resistance would provide a stronger indication of recovery.
Bank Nifty Prediction for October 12-16
Bank Nifty gained 1.48% during the previous week after six consecutive weeks of declines, but the index has entered a consolidation phase on the daily chart. The broader technical trend remains weak as it continues to trade below its 21-day and 55-day EMAs and key resistance levels.
The banking index will need to reclaim important moving averages to strengthen the recovery. Investors will also monitor banking and financial services stocks for signs of sustained buying, particularly as markets assess the outlook for interest rates, credit growth and earnings performance.
"For a sustained recovery, Bank Nifty needs to reclaim its 21 day EMA near 55,520, above which a move towards 56,200 is possible. As long as the index holds above its recent swing low of 53,800, a cautious buy on dips strategy near 54,700 may be considered, with disciplined risk management," said Dr. Ravi Singh.
Accordingly, 53,800 remains a key support level for Bank Nifty, while 55,520 is the immediate resistance to watch. A sustained move above this level could open the way towards 56,200. Until then, the index may remain range-bound, with traders likely to focus on selective opportunities rather than a broad-based rally.
FII Selling vs DII Buying: Key Market Trigger Next Week
The continued tug-of-war between foreign and domestic institutional investors remains one of the biggest factors shaping the near-term market outlook. Persistent FII selling has weighed on benchmark indices, while strong domestic institutional investor (DII) inflows have helped absorb some of the selling pressure and limit deeper declines.
The direction of foreign flows during October 12-16 will be important in determining whether the latest rebound can extend into another week. A reduction in FII outflows, combined with continued DII buying, could support a recovery in large-cap stocks. However, renewed foreign selling could limit gains even if domestic investors continue to provide support.
