Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, 5 to 9 October 2026: Sensex, Nifty May Remain Volatile Amid FII Selling
Indian benchmark indices enter the next trading week on a weak footing after extending their losing streak to the eighth consecutive week, marking the longest such decline in 25 years. Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, 5 to 9 October 2026: Sensex, Nifty Weekly Prediction
The sell-off was driven by a combination of global and domestic concerns. Rising US 10-year Treasury yields, renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia, elevated crude oil prices, a weaker Indian rupee and continued foreign investor selling weighed heavily on market sentiment. With these factors still in focus, investors are likely to approach the October 5-9 trading week cautiously.

Key Triggers To Impact Stock Market Next Week
US Bond Yields, Crude Oil In Focus
The sharp rise in US 10-year Treasury yields remains one of the key concerns for emerging markets. Higher yields in the US can make dollar-denominated assets more attractive, encouraging investors to shift money away from riskier emerging-market equities.
At the same time, geopolitical tensions in West Asia have pushed Brent crude prices above the $100-per-barrel mark. For an oil-importing economy such as India, elevated crude prices can add to inflationary pressures, put pressure on corporate margins and widen the trade deficit.
The combination of higher bond yields and expensive crude oil has also contributed to pressure on the Indian rupee against the US dollar, adding another layer of uncertainty for domestic equities.
FII Selling, DII Buying To Remain Key Market Trigger
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued their selling spree during the week and remained net sellers for the seventh consecutive week. FIIs sold equities worth Rs 34,966 crore, reflecting continued caution amid rising global yields and currency pressure.
Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), meanwhile, continued to provide support to the market by purchasing equities worth Rs 33,455 crore. The direction of institutional flows will therefore remain an important factor for the market in the coming week.
Weak Monsoon Adds To Market Concerns
Domestic factors are also adding to the pressure on equities. The southwest monsoon recorded a 13% shortfall, raising concerns about agricultural output and the possibility of persistent food inflation.
Investors will also track the impact of September automobile sales, with mixed numbers across the sector adding to stock-specific volatility. Expectations of sluggish earnings growth could further influence individual stocks as the market moves towards the quarterly results season.
Nifty Weekly Prediction for October 5 to 9, 2026
The Nifty fell 3.11% during the week and remains below its 21-day, 55-day, 100-day and 200-day EMAs, pointing to continued weakness in its technical structure. Selling pressure has remained visible on recovery attempts.
"On the downside, 22250 is the immediate support, A decisive break below 22250 could intensify selling pressure and open the way towards 22000. On the upside, 22700 is the key resistance zone. Any rebound towards this area is likely to face selling pressure, keeping the sell-on-rise strategy intact," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.
For the coming week, 22,250 will remain an important support level for the Nifty. A decisive break below this level could bring 22,000 into focus, while 22,700 remains the key resistance level to watch on the upside.
Bank Nifty Weekly Technical Outlook
Bank Nifty also remained under pressure, extending its losing streak to the sixth consecutive week. The index declined 2.03% and continues to trade below its key moving averages, indicating a weak technical setup.
"On the downside, 54000 is the immediate support as well as an important psychological level. A decisive breakdown below this zone could accelerate the decline towards 53500. On the upside, 55000 remains the key resistance to monitor. As long as the index sustains below this level, the preferred strategy remains sell on rise, with any bounce towards 55000-55100 offering an opportunity to initiate fresh short positions," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.
For Bank Nifty, 54,000 is the immediate support to monitor, while a breakdown could bring 53,500 into focus. On the higher side, 55,000-55,100 remains the key resistance zone.
