Indian stock market enters the trading week of October 19-23, 2026, with renewed optimism after the Sensex and Nifty extended their gains for a second consecutive week. The benchmark indices ended the latest week at 74,729 and 23,146, respectively, with the Sensex rising 3.11% and the Nifty gaining 2.78%. The recovery has lifted the indices above key short-term moving averages, improving the near-term technical outlook.

However, whether the rally can continue will depend on corporate earnings, foreign investor activity, global market trends and movements in bond yields and the rupee. Corporate earnings will be one of the major triggers for Indian equities during the coming week.

Buying interest in information technology stocks played a significant role in the latest recovery. Easing pressure from US Treasury yields and continued buying by domestic institutional investors also helped support the broader market.

Factors To Trigger Stock Market Next Week: What Can Drive Sensex and Nifty?

The direction of the domestic market during October 19-23 is likely to be shaped by a combination of technical signals, corporate earnings announcements and institutional fund flows.

Foreign portfolio investor (FPI) selling moderated during the latest week, with net outflows narrowing to Rs 8,991 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs), meanwhile, purchased approximately Rs 7,813 crore worth of shares, helping absorb selling pressure and providing support to the market.

Nifty Prediction for October 19-23: Check Key Support and Resistance Levels

The Nifty has rebounded strongly from its 200-week exponential moving average (EMA) and ascending trendline support near 22,200. Its 2.78% weekly advance has helped the index establish a stronger technical base and reclaim the 21-day EMA near 22,900.

The index has established a strong base on the daily chart and reclaimed its 21-day EMA near 22900, signalling improving momentum. As long as Nifty sustains above this level, buying interest is likely to persist, making a buy-on-dips strategy prudent. On the upside, the 55-day EMA near 23360 remains the immediate resistance. A decisive breakout above this hurdle could strengthen the recovery and trigger further buying momentum, opening the door for an upside move towards 23600.

"For the coming week, the 22,900 level will be an important support to monitor. If the Nifty holds above this mark, the recovery could continue towards the 23,360 resistance zone. A sustained breakout above that level may open the way towards 23,600. However, if the index slips below its 21-day EMA, buying momentum could weaken and lead to renewed volatility," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.

Bank Nifty Prediction for October 19-23

The Bank Nifty also extended its recovery, gaining 1.06% during the week and registering its second consecutive weekly advance. The banking index moved above a resistance zone that had previously limited its progress and reclaimed its 21-day EMA near 55,500, signalling an improvement in short-term momentum.

"On the upside, the index may attempt to reclaim its 55-day EMA near 56200. A decisive breakout above this resistance could strengthen the recovery and trigger further upside towards 57000. The near-term outlook remains constructive, favouring a buy-on-dips strategy as long as key support levels hold," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.

For the October 19-23 trading week, 55,500 will be the immediate level to watch for support, while 55,000 remains an important psychological support zone. On the upside, a sustained move above 56,200 could strengthen the recovery and bring 57,000 into focus. Failure to hold above support, however, could expose the index to renewed selling pressure.
