Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, September 21-25: Sensex, Nifty May Find Support; Crude, FII in Focus

Indian equity benchmarks are set to enter the September 21-25 trading week after ending lower for the sixth consecutive week, marking their longest losing streak since 2020. The Nifty declined 0.22% during the week to close at 23,346, despite gaining 0.33% on Friday, while the Sensex fell 0.65% to 74,294. Most of the weekly damage came during Tuesday's sell-off, following which the market staged a partial recovery.

Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week, 21-25 September 2026: Sensex, Nifty Weekly Prediction

Global cues continued to dominate market sentiment, with the US FOMC meeting, crude oil prices, US bond yields and the West Asia crisis remaining key areas of focus. The Indian rupee also depreciated for the second consecutive week, adding to the cautious mood.

Indian Stock Market Outlook Next Week

Brent crude remained near $103 per barrel, keeping inflation and interest-rate concerns alive, although a late-week decline in oil prices helped yields ease. Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers for the fifth consecutive week, selling equities worth Rs 7,619 crore. Domestic institutional investors, meanwhile, continued to provide support by buying shares worth Rs 11,232 crore.

Nifty Weekly Outlook: 23,000-23,100 Zone In Focus

The Nifty declined 0.22% during the week, extending its losing streak to six consecutive weeks. However, the decline remained limited, with the index attempting to form a base near the June 2026 lows.

The index has also entered oversold territory, while the daily RSI has started recovering from these levels, indicating scope for a technical rebound.

"The 23,000-23,100 zone is expected to act as immediate support. From current levels, Nifty could rebound towards 24,600. A sustained move above this level may trigger further recovery towards the 21-day EMA near 24,000. However, caution remains warranted as the broader trend is still weak," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.

For the coming week, the 23,000-23,100 zone will therefore remain an important support area for the Nifty, while the broader trend continues to remain weak.

Sensex Weekly Outlook: Global Cues To Drive Market Direction

The Sensex declined 0.65% during the week to close at 74,294. The index was particularly affected by selling in Tata Group stocks amid a governance dispute, which had a greater impact on the Sensex than on the Nifty.

Although the market recovered partially after Tuesday's sharp sell-off, the broader sentiment remained cautious. The Sensex's movement next week will continue to be influenced by crude oil prices, US bond yields, global cues and developments around the West Asia crisis.

Bank Nifty Outlook for Next Week: 55,600-55,700 Support Zone

Bank Nifty declined 0.44% during the week, extending its losing streak to four consecutive weeks. However, the index is attempting to form a base near the 55,600-55,700 zone, which also coincides with an important horizontal support area.

Despite the recent weakness, Bank Nifty continues to show relative strength, while the intensity of selling appears to have moderated.

"This suggests the index could provide support to the broader market and witness a rebound towards 57,000, which also coincides with the 55-day EMA. As long as the index holds its recent lows, a cautious buy-on-dips approach is recommended, although traders should remain vigilant given the prevailing broader weakness," said Dr. Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services Ltd.

Key Triggers To Impact Stock Market Next Week

Crude Oil Prices Remain Key Trigger

Crude oil prices will remain an important trigger for the Indian market in the coming week. Brent crude remained near $103 per barrel, keeping inflation and interest-rate concerns alive.

However, the late-week pullback in oil prices helped yields ease. Any further movement in crude will therefore remain closely watched by investors as the market assesses its potential impact on inflation and interest-rate expectations.

Bond Yields To Remain In Focus

The US FOMC meeting and movements in US bond yields remained among the major global factors influencing market sentiment during the week. Rising yields have contributed to caution among foreign investors, while the broader global interest-rate environment remains important for emerging markets. Investors are likely to continue tracking these factors during the September 21-25 trading week.

West Asia Crisis Adds To Market Uncertainty

The West Asia crisis remained another major source of uncertainty for investors. Any developments in the region could influence crude oil prices and, in turn, inflation and rate expectations.

Along with global monetary policy and bond yields, developments in West Asia are likely to remain closely watched as the market begins the new trading week.

FII Selling vs DII Buying

Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers for the fifth straight week, offloading equities worth Rs 7,619 crore. In contrast, domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 11,232 crore.

The difference between FII and DII flows highlights the continuing role of domestic liquidity in absorbing foreign selling pressure. Strong DII buying has provided support to the market even as foreign investors have remained cautious.
