India's Direct Tax Collection Up 15.7% At Rs 6.53 Lakh Crore Till August 10
The Indian government has collected Rs 6.53 lakh Crore as gross direct tax in the current fiscal year till August 10, according to data released on Friday. This represents a 15.7% increase year on year.

Direct tax collection, net of refunds, amounted to Rs 5.84 lakh crore as of August 10, 17.33% more than net collections for the same period last year and 32.03% of the Budget Estimates.
Refunds totalling Rs 0.69 lakh crore were issued between April 1, 2023, and August 10, 2023, representing a 3.73% increase over refunds issued during the same time the previous year, according to the government.
