Speaking at LogiMAT India 2025, Nath highlighted that 2023 was the first year when these exports exceeded USD 1 billion.

Indo-German Trade Relations

Indo-German trade has been flourishing, with an annual growth rate of nearly 8 to 10 per cent. Currently, this trade amounts to approximately 30 billion euros. Nath expressed optimism that this growth trend will persist. The machinery sector plays a crucial role in this trade, accounting for about 32 per cent of the total exchange between the two nations.

The LogiMAT India event, which is a satellite show of Europe's largest intralogistics exhibition LogiMAT Stuttgart, is organised by Messe Stuttgart India. This three-day event is set to conclude on February 15 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. The event underscores the growing collaboration between India and Germany in the logistics sector.

Exports of German machinery to India have also seen a rise, reaching approximately 4.5 billion euros. This reflects a growth of around 10 per cent compared to the previous year. Sascha Schmel from VDMA noted India's booming market, driven by rising GDP figures and improvements in production and supply chains.

Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives

India and Germany have maintained strong bilateral ties since 2000 through a strategic partnership. Recently, both countries signed a Memorandum of Arrangement to enhance mutual logistics support between their armed forces. Germany stands as India's largest trading partner in Europe.

Stefan Halusa from the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce highlighted the balanced nature of Indo-German trade relations, with no deficit on either side. This balance indicates a healthy trading environment and has significantly expanded over recent years.

Several initiatives illustrate this partnership, including the Market Entry Support Programme and Make in India Mittelstand MIIM. Additionally, Messe Stuttgart supports India's vision of Viksit Bharat through its Indian counterpart, Messe Stuttgart India.

Germany's interest in the Indian market continues to grow daily, supported by positive developments making headlines. The collaboration between these two nations is expected to strengthen further in various sectors, contributing to mutual economic growth and development.
