Indices End At Record High, Nifty Tops 15115 Levels; M&M Top Gainer

After rallying past levels of 51,500 on the Sensex and clinching 15,150 points on the Nifty in today's intra-day deal, benchmark indices towards the end of the session pared some gains. Nifty ended the session with gains of 1.28% or 192 points at 15,116, while Sensex closed at 51,349, up 617 pts or 1.22%.

Among top gainers on the Nifty today have been M&M, Tata Motors, Hindalco, Shree Cements and JSW Steel, while laggards included Britannia, HUL, Divis Labs, Kotak Mahindra and Bajaj Finance.

Sectorally, Nifty Auto and Nifty metal were the outliers in trade today with gains of over 3 percent. Within the auto pack, gains came due to surge in stock price of M&M (which gained 10%), Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Motherson Sumi and Bosch.

In the metal pack, list of gainers include JSW Steel, Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, Hindalco and Vedanta. Shares of JSW Steel inched higher after the company announced plans to raise $1 bn via dollar bonds for Bhushan acquisition, capex.

IT pack also witnessed strong buying and was up over 2 percent, led by gains in Infosys, TCS, InfoEdge, Wipro and Tech Mahindra. Shares of Birlasoft eased after hitting 52-week high as investors resorted to profit booking.

Meanwhile, European markets in line with the global uptrend momentum traded with modest gains of up to 0.5 percent on French CAC and FTSE.
