Indices End Flat; Nifty PSE Index Gains Most

After opening on a strong note on positive global cues, indices pared their gains in the afternoon session to trade flat. At the close Sensex was at 50441, up 0.07%, while Nifty ended at 14956. Broader indices gained with Nifty Mid cap 100 settling higher by 0.3%

UPL, GAIL, Larsen and Toubro, ONGC and HCL Tech were among the top gainers, while losers included Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank, Shree Cements and Bajaj Auto.

Nifty Bank also swung between gains and losses while Nifty PSU Bank was the outlier in trade.

Oil and gas stocks were in traction today after crude futures surged to above $70 per barrel after there was an attact on the Saudi Arabia oil production facilities.

Meanwhile, on better than expected US payroll data, European indices were trading with gains of up to 0.65% on German's DAX. US stock futures at the time of writing this story was sharply lower by over 2% on the NASDAQ futures.
