Indices End Lower; Sensex Closes Just Shy Of 46000, Nifty At 13478
In the late noon trade, Sensex has recovered from day's massive losses and the indices closed by a weak margin. Sensex ends at 45956, down 0.31 percent, while Nifty cools off 0.35 percent to 13481.6. Nifty Mid cap 100 and Nifty Bank were down by 0.8 percent and 0.67 percent, respectively.
Top gainers were Nestle, ITC, Britannia, HUL and Adani Ports while losers have been UPL, Ultratech Cement, Shree Cements, Tata Motors.
Nifty FMCG was the outlier in trade today gaining 2.74% and hitting a life time high, led by stocks such as HUL, ITC, Nestle among others.
UPL was dragged by a heavy after reports of a whistleblower complaint of siphoning of funds. The management as per media reports is to meet for a conference call today at 4:30 pm.
IRCTC also shed a great deal in trade today after the government is divesting its stake via OFS that began today.
Meanwhile, European indices are trading with gains on DAX and CAC, also US stock futures traded mixed with Nasdaq trading with a drag.
Also, gold prices on the MCX are down for another day even on stimulus hopes in countries' including US, Europe and Japan.
