Sensex, Nifty End At All-Time Highs For The Second Consecutive Day
Banking stocks and RIL pushed the Indian stock market benchmark indexes to new all-time highs on Thursday. BSE's Sensex touched 41,164 and NSE's Nifty 50 scaled to 12158.80 points.
Sensex closed 109.56 points or 0.27 percent higher at 41,130.17 while Nifty ended 53.60 points or 0.44 percent up at 12,154.30.
Nifty Bank breached the 32,000-mark to hit an all-time high of 32,157.05. 9 of 11 NSE's sectoral gauges ended higher, led by the NSE Nifty PSU Bank Index's with a 3.5 percent gain. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty Auto Index was the top sectoral loser, falling 0.28 percent.
Bharti Infratel, UPL, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers on Nifty.
Shares of RIL touched an all-time high of Rs 1,584.15 to become the first Indian company to be valued higher than Rs 10 lakh crore in market cap.
The Indian rupee erased its morning gains to trade at the day's low of 71.62 against the dollar.
