IndiGo has appointed former Air India Express Managing Director Aloke Singh as Chief Strategy Officer following the resignation of CEO Pieter Elbers. The airline said Singh will lead long-term strategy and enterprise-wide transformation, with priorities including growth, operational efficiency, agility, and customer experience. Singh will report to Managing Director Rahul Bhatia until a new CEO takes charge.
IndiGo on Monday named former Air India Express Managing Director Aloke Singh as Chief Strategy Officer. The move followed the sudden resignation of IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers less than two weeks earlier. IndiGo said Singh will steer long-term strategy and support company-wide change plans as the airline continues to expand.

IndiGo said Singh will guide strategic planning and lead transformation work across the airline. The statement said this work will target faster growth, better operational efficiency, and a stronger market position. IndiGo also linked the role to changes in the global aviation sector.
IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer role and reporting line
Singh will work closely with IndiGo’s leadership team on cross-functional priorities, the airline said. IndiGo added that these efforts will aim to improve agility, raise customer experience standards, and deliver sustainable shareholder value. The airline described the work as enterprise-wide in scope, covering multiple parts of the business.
IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia said Singh’s background fit the role’s goals. "Aloke Singh brings an exceptional blend of strategic vision and operational depth. His comprehensive understanding of the aviation ecosystem will be invaluable as we build a more agile, resilient and future-ready organisation, and accelerate our next phase of growth. For now, Aloke will report to me. Once the next CEO assumes office, he will transition to reporting to the new Chief Executive,\" Bhatia said.
IndiGo appointment adds aviation experience to leadership
IndiGo highlighted Singh’s airline experience while announcing the appointment. Singh served at Air India Express as Managing Director and as Chief Executive Officer. IndiGo also noted that Singh held senior leadership roles at Air India and Oman Air, adding to a long career in the aviation industry.
The appointment placed Singh in charge of shaping IndiGo’s longer-term plans and supporting transformation initiatives. IndiGo said the work will focus on growth, efficiency, and competitiveness. The airline also set out how Singh will report, first to Rahul Bhatia and later to the next CEO.
