The Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has issued a fresh passenger advisory as IndiGo flight cancellations are still taking place. Passengers every day are reporting delays, as more than 800 flights have been cancelled so far by the domestic carrier which has caused a lot of chaos at the airports.
Delhi Airport authorities have released a fresh advisory to help passengers avoid inconvenience amid ongoing operational disruptions in IndiGo airlines.
Delhi Airport Advisory Details
According to the Delhi Airport update issued on X, passengers flying with IndiGo Airlines must verify real-time information directly with the airline or through official platforms for a bettercarrier, travel experience. Since Indigo flight delays are still impacting schedules, airport authorities have requested passengers to plan additional time for check-in, security checks, and boarding procedures.
Delhi International Airport operator DIAL stated that teams are working closely with all stakeholders to minimise disruptions and maintain seamless airport operations. "Our on-ground staff is available to assist passengers, including those requiring medical support or special assistance. Travellers can visit the information desk for immediate help," the advisory noted.

To ease passenger movement, Delhi Airport has also said that multiple public transport options, including the Delhi Metro Airport Line, buses, and cab services, will be fully operational for easy travel to and from Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. Passengers facing flight delays can use these alternative travel modes to reduce congestion and ensure timely arrival at the airport.
Delhi Airport has urged passengers to regularly check the Delhi Airport website, www.newdelhiairport.in, for official, real-time updates, flight information, weather-related alerts, and terminal advisories.
The IndiGo Fiasco in Brief
IndiGo has been cancelling thousands of flights since 1 December due to crew shortages linked to new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules and poor roster planning. As of 7 December, the airline operated around 1,650 out of its usual 2,300 daily flights, with about 650 flights still cancelled that day. According to reports, Indigo's on‑time performance has improved to around 75%, but key metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad are still seeing major disruption.
To tackle the issue, the Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered IndiGo to clear all pending refunds for cancelled or severely delayed flights by 8 pm on 7 December and warned of regulatory action for non-compliance.
Additionally, the DGCA has issued a show‑cause notice to IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers for lapses in planning and has given a one‑time 24‑hour extension to respond.
IndiGo has announced a full waiver of cancellation and rescheduling fees for bookings affected by this disruption, generally covering travel till around 15 December. The airline says it has processed about ₹610 crore in refunds so far and is running "automatic refunds" for cancelled flights, without passengers needing to apply.
