IndusInd Bank, YES BANK Increase Work-From-Home and Hybrid Roles While Maintaining Branch Operations

Private sector lenders IndusInd Bank and YES BANK are expanding their work-from-home and hybrid work policies after witnessing positive results from pilot programmes across select teams. The move comes as several Indian companies reassess workplace strategies following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal encouraging wider voluntary adoption of remote work to help conserve fuel and resources.

Both banks clarified that customer-facing operations and branch services will continue normally even as more internal teams shift towards flexible work arrangements.

IndusInd Bank YES BANK Increase Work-From-Home

IndusInd Bank said it is widening its roster-based work-from-home system beyond the initial pilot departments as part of a broader strategy focused on operational efficiency, sustainability and resource optimisation.

According to the bank, the expanded framework has been designed to balance remote work flexibility with uninterrupted banking services. The lender stated that customer operations would remain unaffected while employees continue working through a structured mix of remote and office-based schedules.

The bank linked its decision to the Government of India's emphasis on virtual collaboration and fuel conservation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently encouraged organisations and citizens to voluntarily increase work-from-home adoption to reduce fuel consumption and improve efficiency.

As per CNBC TV18 report, explaining the structure of the model, the bank said, "The framework has been designed with a customer-first approach, ensuring customer service and branch operations continue as usual, while maintaining productivity and operational efficiency across the organisation."

IndusInd Bank also highlighted that its hybrid system relies heavily on digital-first practices and agile execution models, which the company believes have improved productivity, time utilisation and overall workflow efficiency.

YES BANK is also moving towards broader hybrid work adoption, especially for non-customer-facing departments.

Archana Shiroor, Chief Human Resources Officer at YES BANK, said several teams within the organisation are already functioning under hybrid work arrangements and the bank now plans to extend the model further.

The lender believes flexible work structures can help improve employee efficiency and operational agility while ensuring continuity in customer service functions.

The shift towards hybrid and remote working models is becoming increasingly visible across India's banking industry. Earlier, HDFC Bank had also started piloting hybrid work arrangements for selected teams.
