Inflation To Start Moderating From Sept Onwards: RBI Governer Shantikanta Das

Shaktikanta Das, governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), mentioned a recent drop in prices when he stated that the RBI anticipates a slowdown in inflation by September.

The comments were made as the July inflation rate reached 7.4%, the highest level in 15 months, breaking above the 2% to 6% range. The governor of the RBI anticipates continued high inflation through August, but that inflation will likely start to decline starting in September.

The RBI Governor said that while citing a fall in the prices of vegetables like tomatoes, restrictions imposed on the export of non-basmati rice and cut in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, according to PTI.

Retail inflation increased to 7.44 percent in July, the highest level in the previous 15 months, according to government data.

According to Das, July saw a relatively high level of (retail) inflation.
