Instagram To Soon Allow Users To Add Video Statuses, Check How To Use New Video Status Feature

Here is good news for Instagram users who love to add their video statuses on Instagram, but have so far not been able to do so because this facility was not available on the popular social media platform Instagram. The social media giant Instagram is now planning to expand its notes feature to enable users to add video statuses of almost 2 seconds.

Notes is Instagram's status feature that was launched in December 2022. Until now, users could only post text or emojis on their status updates. However, once this facility is launched you can also add a 2-second video note that will be visible to your close friends or mutual followers for 24 hours.

Since the social media platform already enables you to post video Stories, the new video Notes update may sound a bit confusing to users looking to share a video for 24 hours. The new video notes feature is not the same as the company's already popular 'Stories' feature given that video notes have a time limit of around 2 seconds.

Another differentiator between video Notes and video Stories is that you can only post content from your front-facing camera when sharing video Notes. Besides, you have to capture the content in the app when posting a video Note, which means the video cannot be uploaded from the users' phone gallery.

According to TechCrunch, Users can post a video Note by going to your inbox, tapping on your photo in the Notes tray and then clicking the camera button on top of your photo. From there, you can tap the record button to record a two-second video. Once you're happy with the video, you can choose to add text and then post it.

How to use the new video status feature of Instagram?

1) Open Instagram and visit your inbox
2) Click on your photo in the Notes tray and tap on the camera button
3) Tap on record to capture your 2-second video with the front-facing camera
4) Add text to the video for context and then post it.

Initially, Instagram's Notes feature which was launched in December 2022, was seen as a rival to X (formerly Twitter), as it allowed people to communicate with others via text. The feature was introduced at a time when people were searching for a Twitter alternative after Elon Musk bought the social network.

At the time, a The New York Times report revealed that Facebook parent Meta was considering turning Instagram Notes into a fully-fledged Twitter competitor. However, later Meta found its Twitter competitor in Threads, which was launched in August.

After Facebook, WhatsApp likely to allow users to share their Status on Instagram

One must note that WhatsApp lets users share their Status on the app as a Facebook Story without even leaving the app. Earlier a WABetaInfo report had highlighted that the message-sharing platform is currently working on a new feature that will allow users to share their WhatsApp Status as Instagram Story also. This feature was seen on the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.20 update, available on the Google Play Store.
