The newly merged Air India-Vistara entity launched its first international flight from Doha to Mumbai on Monday night. The flight, coded AI2286, departed Doha at approximately 10.07 pm local time and was scheduled to arrive in Mumbai early on Tuesday morning. This marks a significant milestone as the first international journey for the combined airline.

Domestically, the merged airline's inaugural flight, AI2984, took off from Mumbai heading to Delhi at around 1.30 am on Tuesday. This flight utilised an A320 aircraft. The code AI2XXX is now being used for Vistara flights operated by Air India after the merger, aiding passengers in identifying Vistara flights during booking.
Flight Details and Merger Impact
According to Flightradar24.com, the Doha-Mumbai flight was operated using an A321 aircraft and had a duration of nearly three hours. A source had previously confirmed that AI2286 would be the first flight operated by the merged entity. This integration represents a significant consolidation in India's civil aviation sector.
The merger of Vistara with Air India brings together two Tata Group airlines. Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. Following the merger, Singapore Airlines will hold a 25.1 per cent stake in the expanded Air India.
This consolidation aims to streamline operations and enhance service offerings under the Air India brand. The merger is expected to bring about operational efficiencies and improved customer experiences as both airlines combine their strengths.
