Following India's T20 World Cup triumph, reports suggest that Suryakumar Yadav could emerge as a potential captaincy candidate, replacing Hardik Pandya.

Several media reports have suggested that Suryakumar Yadav, who recently led India in T20Is, may take over the captaincy of the Mumbai Indians. As of now there is no official information about Suryakumar Yadav's potential captaincy of Mumbai Indians. Notably, Hardik Pandya was appointed as MI captain ahead of the 2024 season. He had replaced Rohit Sharma in the role.

Suryakumar Yadav's Success in T20 World Cup

Suryakumar took charge of the Indian T20I side in July and quickly built an impressive record. India stayed unbeaten in bilateral T20I series and lifted major multi-nation trophies, including the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2026. Across 52 games, Suryakumar oversaw 40 wins, eight losses and a 76.92 win percentage.

Hardik Pandya To Remain Mumbai Indians Captain

As of now, there has been no official confirmation about Suryakumar Yadav becoming Mumbai Indians' captain. Hence, Hardik Pandya is likely to remain the captain of the team.
