Biofertiliser manufacturing: IPL Biologicals opens Vadodara plant with INR 200 crore investment

IPL Biologicals Ltd opened a third biological manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, with a Rs 200 crore investment, the company said. The unit lifts total annual output capacity to 25,000 kilolitres. IPL Biologicals said the facility will make biofertilisers, biopesticides and crop health products for farm use.

The company said the new site will help serve demand in central and southern India. It will also support exports, as IPL Biologicals expands overseas. Harsh Vardhan Bhagchandka said products were being registered in 15 countries. The company said the move matches a wider push to reduce chemical fertiliser use.

IPL Biologicals Vadodara plant capacity and infrastructure

IPL Biologicals said the Vadodara plant covers 12 acres and has 2,00,000 square feet of floor area. The facility has a capacity of 40 kilolitre per day. The company said automated harvesting and transfer systems are installed. It added the unit uses a zero-liquid-discharge system for wastewater control.

IPL Biologicals said the site generates 500 kilowatts of captive solar power. The company said it is certified under ISO 9001:2015. It also holds IMO, Indocert and OMRI organic certifications. IPL Biologicals said its other two manufacturing plants are located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

IPL Biologicals investment plan and growth numbers

Harsh Vardhan Bhagchandka, President, IPL Biologicals, said, The third plant is part of the phase-1 expansion. We have invested Rs 200 crore and plan to invest an additional Rs 210 crore forthe next phase. The company said turnover rose 40 per cent to Rs 290 crore in 2025-26.

IPL Biologicals said the expansion aligns with the government’s target to cut chemical fertiliser use by 50 per cent. The company said the facility answers Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a 50 per cent reduction. It added the plant would scale three decades of microbial innovation into biological options for farmers.

IPL Biologicals policy views and farmer reach

Mahesh Bhagchandka, CMD, IPL Biologicals, said higher domestic biological output and focused incentives could reduce India’s fertiliser subsidy burden. Mahesh Bhagchandka said it could also lower reliance on chemical imports. Mahesh Bhagchandka said it may help improve foreign exchange reserves, and urged industry-friendly policies for faster adoption.

IPL Biologicals said it supplies more than 45 million farmers across 27 countries through over 8,000 distributors. The company said it holds 19 patents, with 37 more pending. The company said these assets support its plans to increase its footprint in India and abroad.

IPL Biologicals said the Vadodara facility is expected to add supply for key Indian regions and exports. The company linked the expansion to efforts to reduce chemical fertiliser use and strengthen biological inputs. Company officials repeated calls for supportive policies, while noting planned investment for the next phase and wider product registrations abroad.
