Iran’s New Peace Proposal: 14-Point Plan Seeks End to West Asia Conflict, US Yet to Respond

The article reports Iran's 14-point peace proposal to the United States through Pakistan, seeking a 30-day resolution timeline, deferral of sensitive nuclear issues to Stage 2, and sanctions relief while aiming to end regional conflicts and preserve allied proxies.

Iran has drafted a fresh 14-point peace proposal and sent it to the United States through Pakistan, aiming to end the war in West Asia while easing earlier procedural demands. The document keeps core positions on nuclear enrichment and allied groups intact.

The new approach follows a 15-point framework from Donald Trump's administration and a harder 10-point Iranian reply in April. Tehran now accepts a phased process, while signalling that limits on missiles and nuclear capacity remain non-negotiable for any broader settlement.

Key terms of the Iran 14-point peace proposal

At the heart of the latest plan is a staged timeline. Iran’s 14-point proposal calls for resolving all issues within 30 days, instead of demanding an immediate blockade end before talks, as in April. This contrasts with Washington’s earlier suggestion of a two-month ceasefire period.

On the nuclear file, Iran no longer seeks instant changes. The May proposal defers sensitive nuclear questions to “Stage 2”, leaving facilities like Natanz and Fordow untouched for now. This differs from the US demand that Iran dismantle those facilities, hand over uranium, and halt enrichment entirely.

Regional fallout and reaction to the Iran 14-point peace proposal

In the Strait of Hormuz, Iran moves from demanding full control to accepting parallel negotiations without preconditions. The plan asks for the blockade to end and for a new framework that clearly benefits Tehran. However, missile limits are omitted entirely from the May document.

Tehran keeps its stance on regional allies. The 14-point plan seeks an end to fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon, while insisting Hezbollah and the Houthis remain protected. Sanctions relief terms are unchanged, with Iran again calling for full lifting of US, secondary, UN and IAEA measures.

Iranian official Kazem Gharibabadi presented the proposal to diplomats in Tehran and suggested that Washington must now respond. "Now the ball is in the United States' court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach," Gharibabadi told diplomats, according to state broadcaster IRIB.

Donald Trump signalled scepticism about the Iran 14-point peace proposal soon after it was received. "I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can't imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

While both sides weigh the plan, violence continues in the region. Israel carried out further strikes in Lebanon, killing three people in the town of Sammaiyeh in the Tyre district. These attacks have persisted despite the fragile April 17 ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, showing that diplomacy has yet to change conditions on the ground.
