IRCTC Cancels Bookings Of All 3 Private Trains Till 30 April

On Tuesday, IRCTC announced the cancellation of bookings of its three passenger trains beyond the current lockdown period, till 30 April, in the view of COVID-19 situation in the country. All passengers who have made bookings in these three trains during the said period will receive a full refund.

IRCTC operates private trains called the Tejas Express in two routes Lucknow-New Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai. It also runs the Kashi Mahakal Express (Varanasi to Indore). Bookings on these trains for journeys between 15 to 30 April 2020 will be suspended and a full refund will be made.

According to a Times of India report citing a source, IRCTC has the freedom to take a decision on cancellations for these three trains that it runs privately and no decision has been made on other passenger trains under the Ministry of Railways.

The report further said that the ministry has been holding meetings to work out strategies to run passenger trains with restrictions after the lockdown is lifted.
