IRCTC Offers Free Travel Insurance Worth Up To Rs 50 Lakh On Flight Tickets

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in association with Bharti AXA General insurance company is offering free travel insurance worth up to Rs 50 lakh on flight tickets booked over its mobile app and website.

Tickets for domestic or international travel booked via IRCTC Air's website (www.air.irctc.co.in) and the app will be eligible for the first-of-its-kind travel insurance.

In a statement, Indian Railways' e-ticketing and catering arm said that the travel insurance will provide travellers with financial protection against accidental death and total or permanent disability. The cover will be provided for one-way as well as round-trip ticket bookings.

Coverage for loss of check-in baggage will also be provided for up to Rs 3,000 in case of domestic flights and $250 for international flights.

IRCTC also provides travel insurance cover on railway journey for a nominal cost of 49 paise. According to its website, it covers death, permanent total disability, permanent partial disability and hospitalization expenses for injury and transportation of mortal remains following a rail accident or untoward incident.
